The African Business Leadership Awards are among Africa’s most respected platforms for recognising visionary leaders whose innovation, strategic leadership, and commitment to excellence continue to drive economic growth, business transformation, and sustainable development across the continent. The 16th edition is expected to convene an influential network of policymakers, business leaders, investors, diplomats, development partners, and thought leaders from around the world.
As Chief Executive Officer of the Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), Mr Condé leads one of the world’s most significant bauxite-producing companies. Under his leadership, CBG continues to play a critical role in supporting Guinea’s economic development, generating employment opportunities, expanding industrial capacity, and contributing significantly to the global aluminium value chain. His stewardship has reinforced the company’s reputation as a strategic partner in harnessing Guinea’s vast mineral wealth for national and regional prosperity.
Beyond his leadership at CBG, Mr Condé serves as President of the Guinea Chamber of Mines, where he works closely with industry stakeholders and policymakers to promote sustainable mining practices, strengthen regulatory frameworks, attract investment, and enhance the competitiveness of Guinea’s mining sector. His dual leadership roles place him at the forefront of shaping the future of one of Africa’s most important extractive industries.
With a distinguished professional background spanning law, corporate governance, and mining leadership, Mr Condé has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to institutional excellence and economic progress. Prior to assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer, he served as Legal Director and Secretary-General of CBG. Earlier in his career, he practised law as an attorney and served as an investigating judge in Conakry, experiences that helped shape his strategic approach to governance, compliance, and organisational leadership. He also holds an MBA and has pursued advanced studies at Point Park University.
As a featured speaker, Mr Condé will share valuable insights on the future of Africa’s mining sector, the strategic importance of critical minerals in the global economy, sustainable resource development, industrialisation, and the role of responsible mining in accelerating economic growth and infrastructure development across the continent.
Speaking on his confirmation, the editorial board highlighted Mr Condé’s remarkable leadership and contribution to Africa’s resource-driven development agenda.
“Mr Karifa Condé exemplifies the calibre of leadership required to transform Africa’s natural resource wealth into sustainable economic opportunity. His stewardship of one of the world’s foremost bauxite producers, combined with his influential role in advancing Guinea’s mining industry, demonstrates a commitment to responsible growth, industrial excellence, and long-term value creation. We are honoured to welcome him as both a distinguished speaker and honouree at the 16th African Business Leadership Awards,” the organisers stated.
The award recognises Mr Condé’s outstanding contributions to the mining sector, his commitment to sustainable industrial development, his leadership in promoting responsible resource governance, and his efforts in strengthening Guinea’s position as a strategic player in the global minerals and mining industry.
The 16th African Business Leadership Awards will feature high-level panel discussions, investment dialogues, policy conversations, leadership showcases, and strategic networking engagements designed to foster partnerships, unlock investment opportunities, and accelerate Africa’s economic transformation agenda.
