As President and Provost of Academic City University, Prof. McBagonluri has championed a vision of transforming higher education through innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, and industry-driven learning. Under his leadership, Academic City has continued to strengthen its reputation as one of Africa’s emerging centres of excellence in science, technology, engineering, and entrepreneurship, preparing students to address the challenges and opportunities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Prior to his current role, Prof. McBagonluri built an accomplished international career in engineering, research, and product development, holding senior leadership positions with leading global organisations in the United States. A prolific inventor and accomplished academic, he holds numerous patents and has received international recognition for his contributions to engineering, technology innovation, and research excellence.
His leadership continues to extend beyond the university sector. In 2025, he was appointed to the Board of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), representing private universities, further reinforcing his influence in shaping the future of higher education and human capital development in Ghana and across Africa.
