The awards celebrate Mr Diallo’s exceptional achievements as a dynamic entrepreneur and industrial leader whose vision is reshaping Guinea’s economic landscape and expanding West Africa’s industrial capacity. His leadership exemplifies the transformative power of innovation, strategic investment, and value-chain development in driving sustainable economic growth.
Under Mr Diallo’s stewardship, SONOCO Group has evolved from a local, family-owned trading business into a multi-billion-dollar West African industrial powerhouse with diversified operations spanning manufacturing, agro-processing, beverages, logistics, and metallurgy. His strategic direction has attracted landmark partnerships, including a co-packing agreement with Coca-Cola and the acquisition of Nestlé Guinée, demonstrating confidence in Guinea’s industrial potential.
Mr Diallo’s commitment to domestic value retention and food sovereignty is evident through the establishment of Salam Beverages, a local manufacturing line for water, juices, and energy drinks, and the launch of FERMAV Industries, Guinea’s first integrated poultry value chain developed in partnership with the International Finance Corporation. These initiatives are reducing import dependency, creating jobs, and strengthening regional food supply chains.
His modernisation agenda extends to digital transformation, having successfully transitioned SONOCO’s operations to advanced SAP enterprise systems, enhancing efficiency and positioning the group for continued expansion. Through specialised subsidiaries including Moulins d’Afrique in flour milling, METAL IMPORT in metallurgy, and AM TRANSIT in logistics, SONOCO Group now connects local industrial output directly to markets across the West African region.
Beyond the boardroom, Mr Diallo serves as Special Envoy for Trade and Investment to the President of Sierra Leone and holds the position of Vice President for Industry at the Guinea Chamber of Commerce, reflecting his commitment to regional economic diplomacy and private sector advocacy. His influence has earned him a place in the prestigious Choiseul 100 Africa ranking of influential leaders under 40.
The African Business Leadership Awards recognise outstanding individuals and organisations whose leadership, innovation, and commitment to excellence are shaping Africa’s economic transformation and sustainable development.
